Course Outline
This 2-day course is meant for shareholders who want to better understand the companies they invest in. Using SGX listed companies as examples, participants will understand how companies can develop and gain a sustainable competitive advantage in the market and how their business models can affect their performance. In addition to analysing the financial statements such as the Income Statement and the Balance Sheet, participants will also be guided through the Annual Report in which key elements of corporate governance and other important matters relating to the shareholders are disclosed. To round up, the participants will also get to understand how companies and businesses are being valued and how investment decisions can be taken.

- Analyse financial statements, including the Income Statement and Balance Sheet.
- Review key elements of corporate governance through the Annual Report.
- Learn about important shareholder matters disclosed in company reports.

Trainer Profile
Mr Kelvin has more than 35 years of senior management and investment experience in both the public and private sectors in Singapore. From 2016 to 2023, he served as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the NUS Business School and was a Fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. He has conducted several runs of this course for NUSS/NSA and is known for his structured and practical approach to financial topics.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to understand how businesses make money and whether they are sustainable. Also to identify red flags in financial statements.
