Smart Nation: How Are We Tracking?

Three years after Singapore's Smart Nation vision was launched, the progress report is a mixed one. Find out more here.

It has been over three years since Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong launched Singapore’s push to become a Smart Nation with the aim of harnessing technology to improve the lives of its citizens and businesses.


As PM Lee put it then: “Therefore our vision is for Singapore to be a Smart Nation – a nation where people live meaningful and fulfilled lives, enabled seamlessly by technology, offering exciting opportunities for all.” Since then, a series of initiatives have been launched to realise this ambitious vision, including smart sensors for lighting and rubbish bins, new e-payment systems and trials of driverless vehicles. More recently, a new healthcare service was launched last year that would allow patients to consult healthcare professionals remotely.
